Hoya Krimson Queen is a stunning variegated form of Hoya carnosa — one of the most popular and enduring houseplants in the world. What sets Krimson Queen apart is its striking variegation pattern: creamy white to pink margins frame the outside of each leaf, with the green center creating a bold, two-tone effect. The pink tones are most vivid on new growth, gradually settling to cream as the leaf matures.
A common point of confusion: Krimson Queen is often mixed up with Hoya Krimson Princess. The key difference is location of variegation — Queen has it on the leaf margins (outside), Princess has it in the center. Both are beautiful; this is the Queen.
Like all Hoyas, Krimson Queen is a rewarding long-term plant. Given enough light and time, it produces clusters of star-shaped, fragrant flowers — a genuine treat for patient growers. It trails and vines beautifully in a hanging basket or can be trained up a trellis.
Care guide: Bright indirect light is key — it maintains the variegation and encourages blooming. Plant in a well-draining mix; Hoyas prefer to dry out between waterings and do not tolerate sitting in excess water. Average household humidity is fine. A forgiving, long-lived plant that gets better with age.
