Alocasia odora 'Okinawa Silver' grows large heart shaped leaves that are beautifully variegated, with splashes of cream and white variegation throughout the leaves. What sets this particular cultivar apart from the normal white variegated Alocasia odora, is that 'Okinawa Silver' has splashes of silver mixed with the white variegation. It's a subtle, yet stunning difference.
Alocasia odora grows well outdoors or indoors. During the winter months, it's important to pull back on watering as Alocasia plants do tend to go dormant during this period. It is quite normal for an Alocasia to shed leaves during the winter, so don't worry -- when spring arrives you'll be rewarded for the wait with new foliage!
Alocasia odora 'Okinawa Silver' care:
This plant prefers a well draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Allow the soil to dry out almost completely before watering, taking care to not allow it to sit in excess water. Provide your new Alocasia with plenty of medium to bright indirect light.

Alocasia is a genus of plants in the Aroid family native to many parts of Asia including but not limited to Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Australia.
There are at least 90 officially recognized Alocasia species, with more discovered and properly named every year. Alocasia come in all sizes, from small to large. Jewel types like Black Velvet tend to stay on the bushier, more compact side.
Alocasia are rhizomatous or tuberous and self reproduce from corms.
Alocasia can go dormant during the cooler months, so try to provide your plant with temperatures above 50deg to ensure that they stay happy and healthy during this period.

I've been holding off on purchasing since I live in Pennsylvania and it's the winter. But I've been going through new plant withdrawals and I could wait no longer! This plant arrived in perfect condition. I did include winter protection and that was a wonderful decision. It arrived wrapped very carefully with a heat pack and extra insulation. This variety is not just a variegated Odora- the ‘Okinawa Silver’ is actually a variegated dwarf mutation of the A. Odora & rarely exceeds ~3ft tall, making this variety an ideal choice for most indoor collections.
This variety is one of my all time favorites & is absolutely stunning! The variety was originally discovered/cultivated by Dr. Masato Yokoi of Japan, who was a world famous collector of variegated plants & an expert in plant variegation.

The variegation on this plant is really beautiful! The leaf shape is interesting and a little asymmetrical, but I kind of like the funky look. I have only seen this plant regularly available from this shop. It showed up very healthy, packed with perfection. I'm excited to see this guy grow!
