$19.99

Care

 Bright indirect light

Water when soil is mostly dry

 Loves humidity

Alocasia melo is a truly unique type of elephant ear that has extremely corrugated green and silver leaves.  Their leaf texture is out of this world!

This particular Alocasia is a dwarf, or jewel variety, meaning it will only reach a maximum height of about 2'.  This makes it perfect as an indoor plant.

Alocasia melo prefer to stay on the dryer side, so make sure to allow your plant to completely dry out between watering.

Additional information:

Alocasia is a genus of plants in the Aroid family native to many parts of Asia including but not limited to Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Australia.

There are at least 90 officially recognized Alocasia species, with more discovered and properly named every year. Alocasia come in all sizes, from small to large. Jewel types like Black Velvet tend to stay on the bushier, more compact side.

Alocasia are rhizomatous or tuberous and self reproduce from corms.

Alocasia can go dormant during the cooler months, so try to provide your plant with temperatures above 50deg to ensure that they stay happy and healthy during this period.

Just a gorgeous plant

Arrived with two plants in the pot and six leaves. Was super happy with the state of the plant even after shipping through the country and arriving into Arizona summer. There were some concerning orange spots on most of the leaves, but an email confirmed it may be a fungicide the grower uses. Some diluted alcohol took most of the spots off and I’m happy with it. Transferred it to semi Hydro just a few days ago actually and it seems super happy. Can’t wait to grow this one more.

Shipped quickly. The leaves are beautiful! It's my fav so far. I didn't notice any pests. Can't wait to add it to my collection.
