Alocasia Antoro Velvet is an extremely unique tropical plant with dark/black foliage. The leaves are pointed and covered with small hairs and have a velvet texture.
Alocasia Antoro Velvet can produce leaves up to 2' in length but as an indoor plant it will stay a bit more compact.
Caring for your Alocasia Antoro Velvet is fairly simple but does require some attention. Allow your plant to dry out about halfway between watering, taking care not to allow it to sit in excess water. Due to their darker leaves, this species can tolerate lower light but they prefer bright indirect light.

Alocasia is a genus of plants in the Aroid family native to many parts of Asia including but not limited to Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Australia.
There are at least 90 officially recognized Alocasia species, with more discovered and properly named every year. Alocasia come in all sizes, from small to large. Jewel types like Black Velvet tend to stay on the bushier, more compact side.
Alocasia are rhizomatous or tuberous and self reproduce from corms.
Alocasia can go dormant during the cooler months, so try to provide your plant with temperatures above 50deg to ensure that they stay happy and healthy during this period.

I'm OBSESSED with her!!! I had never seen an Antoro Velvet before, so I felt like I was going out on a limb with purchasing this one, but she is jaw-droppingly GORGEOUS.
FedEx left my box of plants sitting upside-down in the rain, but thankfully there wasn't too much damage. Some leaves got bent/scratched in transit, but she put out a new flawless leaf within a week. The plant that was shipped was super full and mature, so that helped!

These specific alocasia are notorious for being finicky and difficult to care for, but the gorgeous cultivars I recieved from Canopy are thriving! They're hardy, extremely healthy and have been putting out new leaves like no tomorrow! I couldnt be happier!
