Care

 Bright indirect light

Water when soil is mostly dry

 Loves humidity

Alocasia Loco was introduced in 2010 by DeRoose Plants in Apopka, FL.  It was recently released back into the market and we're so glad it was!

This Alocasia is FUNKY!  It has undulating leaf margins, deltoid shaped foliage and distinct silver veining.  Said to be a mutation of Alocasia Polly, this is an incredibly unique plant.  We like to consider this the budget version of Alocasia Venom.

Alocasia Loco care:

This Alocasia plant prefers a well draining soil that is rich in organic matter.  Allow the soil to dry out almost completely before watering, taking care to not overwater your plant as they can be sensitive to overwatering.  Provide your new Alocasia Loco with plenty of bright indirect light for optimal growth.

Additional information:

Alocasia is a genus of plants in the Aroid family native to many parts of Asia including but not limited to Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Australia.

There are at least 90 officially recognized Alocasia species, with more discovered and properly named every year. Alocasia come in all sizes, from small to large. Jewel types like Black Velvet tend to stay on the bushier, more compact side.

Alocasia are rhizomatous or tuberous and self reproduce from corms.

Alocasia can go dormant during the cooler months, so try to provide your plant with temperatures above 50deg to ensure that they stay happy and healthy during this period.

Disappointed

I'm sure they meant well, but it went through a rough ride, dirt was all over in the box. The pot very dry.The plant was put in a cloth bag (ALL) of the leaves and stems were curled/bent under, it was very very dry, I had to cut all the leaves off, so right now you can't tell its an alocasia frydek, its just stems, and hoping I can keep it alive. I think I'm going to order from some where else, I have a alocasia frydek vargated already and it beautiful but this one, I was very very disappointed especially for the amount I spent for it. This is the first I've ever gotten in this condition in over 20 years, I order plants weekly. I reported them in two different pots incase some lived or just died. I dont look for them to replace them, stems still bent over as you can see. Thanks though

It didn’t make it

It was good for 3 days and then all of the leaves died off and the corn was rotted.
