Philodendron Birkin is one of the most visually striking self-heading Philodendrons available — and one of the most fascinating in terms of origin. This cultivar emerged spontaneously as a mutation of Philodendron Rojo Congo discovered in a tissue culture lab, and has since become a collector staple worldwide. Its deep green leaves are adorned with crisp white pinstripe variegation that intensifies as the plant matures, creating a bold, graphic pattern unlike any other Philodendron.
One of the most interesting quirks of Philodendron Birkin: it can revert. Individual leaves may occasionally emerge with red and white variegation reminiscent of its Rojo Congo parent — this is completely normal and part of what makes each plant unique. No two Birkins are exactly alike.
Care guide: Philodendron Birkin thrives in bright indirect light, which helps maintain the intensity of the white variegation. Plant in a well-draining aroid mix rich in organic matter. Allow the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings; do not allow it to sit in excess water. Average household humidity is fine. A compact, upright grower that makes an excellent desk or shelf plant.

Philodendron vary greatly in their natural habits, but you will find a large number of them located in Latin America. Their leaves range from small to medium to large to gigantic! You'll find Philodendron with smooth, glossy foliage and some with velvety foliage!
If you allow Philodendron to climb, their foliage will usually get much larger the higher up they get. While this isn't true for all Philodendron species -- it is for most. We recommend a coco pole to really get your Philodendron growing!
