Monstera, also referred to as "Swiss Cheese Plant", are a type of aroid native to many different countries in Latin America. Monstera can be found growing in its natural habitat in Costa Rica, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, etc.
In the wild, Monstera have a variety of growth habits. They can climb or spread as ground cover. If they are allowed to climb, Monstera leaves will become much larger and begin to fenestrate. They are semi-epiphytic.
Monstera can grow in low indirect light but prefer medium to bright indirect light. If grown in low light conditions their growth will slow.
They tend to be easy to care for and make a great addition to any houseplant collection.
The plant has grown several leaves since my purchase. It is in a temporary spot for right now. I installed plants lights under the kitchen cabinet. I can't wait for my next purchase.
When I initially unboxed her she was very sad looking and wilty. Gave her some water and light and she’s perked up after about 2 weeks!
It has grown two leaves since I got it and I’m sooo happy! I added a moss pole to it which it seems to love
I have been watching this plant for a long time. I finally decided to get it. I do not regret a thing! It was a great size and had new leaves coming through. The pot was nice and full and the leaves were in perfect condition. I was a little bummed that some of the soil came loose but it was not detrimental to the point of ruining the plant. I am really thinking about getting another one just because.
