Alocasia Dragons Breath is an uncommon elephant ear variety that sports elongated leaves with a silvery blue hue. The leaf sinus is dramatic and well defined.
Once mature, the leaves will get quite large -- some can grow as long as 2-3 feet!
Caring for your new Alocasia is relatively simple as Alocasia Dragons Breath prefers a well draining soil rich in organic matter. Allow your plant to dry out between watering to ensure that it remains happy and healthy. Give it bright indirect light.

Alocasia is a genus of plants in the Aroid family native to many parts of Asia including but not limited to Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Australia.
There are at least 90 officially recognized Alocasia species, with more discovered and properly named every year. Alocasia come in all sizes, from small to large. Jewel types like Black Velvet tend to stay on the bushier, more compact side.
Alocasia are rhizomatous or tuberous and self reproduce from corms.
Alocasia can go dormant during the cooler months, so try to provide your plant with temperatures above 50deg to ensure that they stay happy and healthy during this period.

My Alocasia arrived with every leaf but the newest one dead, to be fair this was from the weather. I live in VA and it went from being decently cool to freezing in a matter of days so I can’t blame canopy for it. But the one remaining leaf is doing great and there’s a new leaf on the way so just a small setback for a major comeback! I’m so happy to have a dragons breath in my collection!

I just received this plant today and it is beautiful! Six leaves! I can’t wait to see what it does.
When I saw the box on my front porch, I feared the worst because the box had obviously been tossed around, probably thrown on the porch. The top was crushed down. I opened the box and started unpacking and amazingly enough, the plant was completely intact. It is now sitting in the shade on my deck enjoying the last of summer.

I received my Alocasia 'Dragon's Breath' in good condition, although it lost 3 leaves in transit. The plant itself is healthy and I'm sure it will replace those leaves in short order. It's a unique member of the Alocasia genus with narrow, pointed leaves and I love it.
