 Bright indirect light

Allow soil to dry almost completely between watering

Monstera siltepecana is a stunning and underrated species prized for its silvery, blue-green foliage with dark green veining. Native to Mexico and Central America, juvenile plants produce elongated leaves with a striking silver overlay — a look unlike any other Monstera. As the plant matures and climbs, the leaves transform dramatically, developing fenestrations and growing significantly larger. It’s a plant with two distinct personalities depending on how you grow it.

Monstera siltepecana is highly versatile: it looks beautiful trailing from a shelf or hanging basket, but truly thrives when given a coco pole or moss pole to climb. Climbing encourages the transition to mature, fenestrated foliage — a rewarding transformation for any collector.

Care guide: Prefers bright indirect light to maintain the silver coloration; lower light will cause the leaves to green up. Plant in a well-draining aroid mix rich in organic matter. Allow the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings — do not let it sit in excess water. Average household humidity is fine; higher humidity accelerates growth. An easy-care, fast-growing species that rewards minimal attention with maximum impact.

Additional information:

Monstera, also referred to as "Swiss Cheese Plant", are a type of aroid native to many different countries in Latin America. Monstera can be found growing in its natural habitat in Costa Rica, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, etc.

In the wild, Monstera have a variety of growth habits. They can climb or spread as ground cover. If they are allowed to climb, Monstera leaves will become much larger and begin to fenestrate. They are semi-epiphytic.

Monstera can grow in low indirect light but prefer medium to bright indirect light. If grown in low light conditions their growth will slow.

They tend to be easy to care for and make a great addition to any houseplant collection.
