Philodendron squamiferum is a unique indoor tropical plant with fuzzy red bristles on its petioles! This is one of the species that is crossed with Philodendron pedatum to achieve the hybrid Philodendron 'Florida'.
As your Philodendron Squamiferum matures, the leaves will get larger! You may see the leaves grow up to 2-3' long inside of your home! This plant absolutely loves to climb, so make sure to provide it with a pole or other support structure so it can live its best life.
Philodendron squamiferum care:
Philodendron prefer a well draining soil rich in organic matter. Allow your plant to dry out about halfway between watering, taking care to not allow it to sit in excess water. Provide it with bright indirect light.

Philodendron is one of the most popular genuses of Aroid that are currently in cultivation, with over 450 named cultivars.
Philodendron vary greatly in their natural habits, but you will find a large number of them located in Latin America. Their leaves range from small to medium to large to gigantic! You'll find Philodendron with smooth, glossy foliage and some with velvety foliage!
If you allow Philodendron to climb, their foliage will usually get much larger the higher up they get. While this isn't true for all Philodendron species -- it is for most. We recommend a coco pole to really get your Philodendron growing!
For the most part, Philodendron are easy to care for.
The name Philodendron comes from the greek words "philo" (love or affection) and "dendron" (tree).

Arrived within a few days of putting my order in and when it arrived it was packaged extremely well! I've had it now for over a week and it's giving me a new leaf and has done wonderful with the rest of the plant friends it's with.
I have been looking for this plant for a while now, so I was very excited to see it in stock here. I was a little nervous about ordering and shipping but they did great on taking care of the plants and packaging for shipping. Will definitely be ordering from here again.
So they shipped me an absolute beast of a plant. Probably not normal, but I ordered a 4" squamiferum, and I got a root bound/ ready to size up/ enormous plant, that I eventually did get to repotting. I ordered this in May, so I've only had it for under 2 months, and it is door knob height-see pics. Top leaf a little sun bleached bc I should've put it on a lower shelf. Happy with it would be an understatement.
The plant was in fantastic shape. It's already put out a new leaf. LOVE IT!!

Great plant arrived with yellowing leaves but it has been cold. Already put out a new green leaf and it appears all is well. I love finding the common but not so common philos at Canopy. Glad they rotate their inventory often. Great shipping as always!
