Philodendron gigas is another extraordinary climbing species. Their leaves have a velvet texture. New leaves emerge an orange color and eventually fade to green.
Philodendron gigas is commonly confused with Philodendron melanochrysum and while they are similar in appearance, Philodendron gigas leaves get much longer and narrow the further up it climbs. For your plant to grow this mature foliage it needs to climb a pole or other support structure.
Caring for your Philodendron is relatively simple. They are tolerant of a wide range of conditions and make a great indoor plant. Allow your new plant to dry out almost completely between watering. This plant prefers bright indirect light.

Philodendron is one of the most popular genuses of Aroid that are currently in cultivation, with over 450 named cultivars.
Philodendron vary greatly in their natural habits, but you will find a large number of them located in Latin America. Their leaves range from small to medium to large to gigantic! You'll find Philodendron with smooth, glossy foliage and some with velvety foliage!
If you allow Philodendron to climb, their foliage will usually get much larger the higher up they get. While this isn't true for all Philodendron species -- it is for most. We recommend a coco pole to really get your Philodendron growing!
For the most part, Philodendron are easy to care for.

I love this company, my Gigas arrived well and has since put out multiple leaves. I like the substrate it comes in. I wish they would sell some. Plants do so well in it. Soon when i have a bit more time will add to moss or coco pole for bigger leaves.
